Description

Seabank is a 150 lot residential subdivision in Barwon Heads, Victoria. The 14.7 hectare site has been transformed from a flood prone, wind swept paddock into an attractive living environment through the successful collaboration of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, urban designers and town planners.

Water Sensitive Urban Design principles were utilised to create a residential development that protects and enhances the natural water systems. The stormwater management incorporates on-site water treatment with a retention basin within the public open space and rain gardens in the naturestrips , as well as re-use of water at the adjacent Barwon Heads Golf Course.

The landscaping of the estate provides high quality streetscapes and parkland utilising local indigenous vegetation and other drought tolerant plant species. The amenity of the estate is further enhanced by the incorporation of quality lighting, stone feature entry walls, a children’s playground and art work within the central parkland.

Beveridge Williams obtained a commendation from Environment Australia in Canberra for outstanding water sensitive design work. This development was also awarded a 2008 SIAV award for Stormwater Commendation & a 2007 UDIA award for Water Sensitive Urban Design.
